Greg
Oberg is the pastor of First United Methodist Church of Brazoria, and joined
the Brazoria UMC crew on June 8, 2008. Prior to his appointment to
Brazoria UMC, Greg served as the associate pastor at Bay Harbour UMC in League
City, where he served in a variety of roles including: managing an Upward
Soccer league of over 200 children (ages 4 through 12), developing
cutting-edge videos for promotion of church ministries and coordinating Dave
Ramsey�s Financial Peace University. Before serving at Bay Harbour, he
served as Associate Pastor of Young Families at First United Methodist Church
of Pearland.
Greg is a native Texan, born and raised in
Dickinson, and attended Santa Fe for all of his 13 years of public education
(K � 12th Grade). He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Journalism from Texas A&M (Class of 2000), and a Master of Divinity Degree
from Asbury Theological Seminary (Class of 2004).
Greg met his wife Georgia at Texas A&M, and they have been
married since September of 1999. While Greg served at Bay
Harbour, Georgia served as an Administrative Assistant for the
Galveston County Cooperative Extension Office, and was also
the wedding coordinator for Bay Harbour UMC. She currently works
full time as the office manager for the Brazoria county AgriLife
Extension Office in Angleton.
They
have two boys: Wesley (age 8) and Lincoln (age 4).
Greg
is an avid fan of Star Wars, Star Trek (especially Next Generation
and Voyager), The Lord of the Rings, and The Chronicles of Narnia.
In his spare time he enjoys reading books, writing, playing computer games
with friends, and playing with his boys.
